Early Learning Center

Four Year Old Classrooms:

Programs for four year olds emphasize the development of communication, self esteem and independence in guided learning situations. Academic readiness for Kindergarten is promoted. Development of socialization through group play is encouraged. The daily routine is based on a blend of teacher and child initiated activities.

Learning Centers
    - children choose directed activities from various centers that foster self-guided learning and discovery
    - these include manipulatives, housekeeping, drama, science, math, and language/literacy
    - naming, reasoning, storytelling, categorizing, counting, role play and problem solving are encouraged

Jesus Time
    - stories, songs and prayers are used to better acquaint children with their friend and Lord

Circle Time
    - children are introduced to specific units each week which feature new concepts and vocabulary
    - focus is placed on listening, turn taking, story comprehension, socialization, phonological awareness and early literacy skills

Creative Art
    - self-expression, following directions and fine motor development are facilitated during free and project art experiences

Writing Center
    - writing materials are introduced and children are given opportunities to practice alphabet and writing skills

Outdoor Time
    - as weather permits, children develop group play and physical skills on the playground

Nutrition
    - families are asked to provide healthy snacks to share on their assigned day
